From the 16th to the 20th of February 2014, my friends and I went to New York with our Sixth Form and it was the most amazing trip I have ever been on. I have been dreaming of going to America for so long and it finally happened. I still can't believe that it happened, it was so wonderful that it all feels like a dream. The only proof I have that it was real were the pictures I took, the clothes I bought and the memories I made!
This is us at Newark airport and my first steps into America.
If you have never been to New York then I seriously recommend it! Going up to the Empire State Building at night time is the most beautiful thing you will ever see. It was my favourite part of the trip.
We also went to Liberty Island and Ellis Island to see the Statue of Liberty, she wasn't as big as I had expected but she was still perfect.
We went to the World Trade Center to see the 9/11 memorial at Ground 0. It was so sad but so sweet how they turned it into South Pool and North Pool. The names of all those who died were graved into the pool all around, people could put flowers in the names. I wasn't expecting them to be that big so the buildings must have been huge. R.I.P all the victims.
Central Park was one of my favourite parts of this holiday. It was huge! When we went to New York it was snowy (and it even snowed at one point) which made everything look even more perfect!
We went on this guided tour and at one point we went over the Brooklyn Bridge, the view from that is breathtaking. It was such a lovely landscape as well because the sun was setting.
On our last night in New York we went to Planet Hollywood and to Juniors. Juniors actually have the best cheesecake in the entire world! The dress I am wearing is from Victorias Secret, we literally had ten minutes in there because we had to meet back at the UN which was ages away and we didn't even know where we were!
We did so much more in New York too like going to the New York Stock Exchange, Walls Street, Times Square, Museum of the Moving Image, Sony Center, The Plaza, Shopping (it is amazing in Tiffanys, it's so fancy in there) etc... Everyone is so much nicer in American shops, they don't judge you if you walk out without buying anything and they always ask you how you are.
This was the best trip of my life and I can't believe how quickly it all happened. I can actually say that one of my dreams has come true and it was completely worth the wait. I really want to go back there! It's nothing like it is in movies - it's a million times better.
Hope you all had a great half term, I have so much homework and sleep to catch up on now and I go back to college in two days. I'll leave this post with a few more random photos of the most perfect city in the world.
ps. I took about 500 pictures all together
- Sanny :)
